- Total number of SSI recipients: 7,800,015
- Number of people receiving benefits from the federal government only: 5,435,751
- Number of people receiving benefits from federal and state governments: 2,109,071
- Number of people receiving benefits from state governments only: 255,193
- Total money paid to all recipients: $4,205,003,000
- Average monthly Supplemental Security Income payment: $498.60
- People who qualify for SSI based on age: 1,188,088 (Average monthly payment is $404.80)
- People who qualify for SSI based on blindness or disability: 6,611,927 (Average monthly payment is $518.80)
- SSI recipients under 18 years old: 1,221,863 (Average monthly payment is $601.40)
